Privacy Policy

RoadGenius ("the App") is a Progressive Web Application for planning and managing road trips, developed by Massimo Slomp (massimoslomp.com). Your privacy is important to us. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

1. Data We Collect

When you sign in with Google, we receive and store:

• Display Name — to personalize the interface.
• Email Address — to identify your account and manage trip sharing/invitation.
• Profile Photo URL — to display your avatar.

We also store the trip data you create (destinations, itineraries, activities, logistics, checklists) and your app preferences (theme, language).

2. How We Store Data

All user data is stored securely on Google Firebase (Firestore), protected by Firebase Security Rules that ensure each user can only access their own data and trips they have been explicitly invited to.

The Wallet feature stores travel documents (PDFs, images, .pkpass files) on your personal Google Drive (private AppData folder). These files are synced across your devices but remain under your exclusive control. RoadGenius does not store these files on its own servers.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To authenticate you and provide access to your trips.
• To enable trip sharing and collaboration with other users you invite.
• To sync your preferences (theme, language) across sessions.

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties.

We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google) — for authentication and database (Firestore).
• Vercel — for application hosting and deployment.
• amuni.dev (n8n) — for automated flight data monitoring infrastructure.
• Open-Meteo — for weather forecasts and historical climate data.
• LocationIQ & Nominatim — for destination search and geocoding (no personal data is sent).
• Unsplash — for destination imagery.
• Google Drive API — for storage and synchronization of documents in the Wallet.

Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them. Please note that these services may change or new third-party providers may be implemented in the future to improve the App's functionality.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account exists. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time directly within the App: Profile > Privacy > Delete Account. Alternatively, you can contact us at the email below to request manual deletion. Data will be permanently removed from our servers within 30 days of the request.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

The App uses localStorage to save your theme preference and IndexedDB for the local cache of Wallet files, synced with Google Drive. We do not use tracking cookies or analytics cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.

9. Service Changes and Pricing

RoadGenius is currently provided as a free service. However, we reserve the right to introduce paid features, subscription plans, or usage limits in the future to ensure the sustainability and continued development of the App. Any such changes will be clearly communicated within the App or via this policy before being implemented.
